Why should I hire a party
planner?
A party planner can save
you time, money and stress by suggesting choices you may not have
though of, by helping you develop your budget and helping you stick to
it, by narrowing down the options within your budget, and by handling
the thousand and one details that go into making an event come
together.
Can't you just give me a
list of vendors?
We do not recommend vendors
until we've explored with you such things as budget, theme, location,
and the date of your event, all of which influence who we might
recommend. After we know your needs, we will seek out the vendors who
meet those criteria and work with you and the vendor to arrive at an
affordable price for the services you require.
How is a planner paid?
Party and wedding planners
determine their fees in various way. Most usually charge a fee, either
an hourly consulting rate or a wedding package rate. Be cautious in
hiring a wedding or party planner who bases their fee on a percentage
of the wedding costs; they have no incentive to help you find the best
price. We offer several options, from an hourly rate for corporate
events and family parties to package prices for a wedding. Purple
Penelope does not accept "kick backs" from vendors. We
negotiate the best price for you. Please check our services page for more information on
prices.
What does a planner really
do?
A
party or event planner works directly with the client to create a
stress-free event. An event planner would do all the work you
would have to do if you didn't hire someone to help you. Plus, a
planner brings knowledge and skills to the job you may not have. The
client and planner meet and discuss the services needed for that
event. The planner will then interview vendors (according to the
specifications given by the client) and present the client with
several choices for each of the contracted services. Once the client
chooses a vendor, the planner helps the client negotiates a contract.
The planner will then coordinate vendors set-up and clean-up for the
event. A wedding planner does all of the above, plus provides
assistance to the bride in all other aspects of the wedding. Check our
wedding page for additional
information.
Does a wedding planner
plan everything?
A wedding planner's job is
to help a couple make informed decisions about their wedding, but the
bridal couple have control over their wedding. Purple Penelope works
hard to help you have the wedding of your dreams. See our wedding page and our "For Brides" pages to learn
more about wedding planning.
What can I expect to spend
on my wedding?
The
moon plus 20%, unless you watch every penny!! If you read the
brides' magazine or watch the bridal shows on television, you already
know that the typical wedding in America cost well over $10,000, and
many ordinary weddings cost $25,000. A celebrity wedding can costs
many times that amount. A dream wedding doesn't have to cost that
much. Fortunately, it is possible to have a wonderful wedding for much
less, but it requires careful planning and sticking to that plan to
have a dream wedding on a budget. The more limited your budget, the
more you need a wedding planner to help you obtain the wedding you
want for the budget you can afford.
